Privacy Policy

Giftogether is a gift planning app for wishlists, shared shopping lists and budgets. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Giftogether website and app.

What we collect

• Account information. Your name and email address when you create an account or sign in with Google or Lovable.
• Content you add. The people you are buying for, budgets, wishlists and list items, purchases, gift ideas, group memberships and gift exchange drawings.
• Receipt photos. Photos you upload so we can read items and prices for you.
• Store link details. When you add an item by link, we look up the product name, image and price. When you click a store link, we record that the link was clicked.

How we use it

• To run the app: showing your lists, budgets and reservations, and syncing them across your devices and household.
• To fill in item details when you add a link, and to read items and prices from receipt photos.
• To remember which list items were reserved or bought so gifts stay a surprise.
• To count clicks on store links so we can understand which links are used.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to advertise to you.

Who can see what

• Household. People you share a household with can see the shared lists, budgets and totals. People marked private stay hidden from them, but their amounts still count toward the shared total.
• Wishlists you share. A personal wishlist is visible only to you until you share it. Sharing creates a private link, or makes it visible to groups you choose. You can turn sharing off at any time, which also retires the old link.
• Reservations. When someone reserves an item on your list, the reservation is hidden from you so your gifts stay a surprise. Other group members can see that an item is reserved, but not who reserved it unless the group shows it.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run Giftogether:

• Hosting and database. Your account and content are stored with our cloud hosting provider.
• AI services. Receipt photos and item links are sent to AI services to read items, prices and product details. Results are saved to your lists.
• Web lookups. When you add an item by link or ask for best prices, we fetch the product page through a web lookup service.

When you follow a store link from Giftogether, you leave our app and the store's own policies apply. Giftogether may earn a commission when purchases are made through those links, at no extra cost to you.

Cookies and local storage

Giftogether uses browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember where you were in the app. We do not run advertising trackers. Stores you visit after clicking a link may set their own cookies under their policies.

Your choices

• You can edit or delete people, lists, items, purchases and receipt photos in the app at any time.
• You can turn wishlist sharing on and off, and leave a group whenever you like.
• You can sign out from the app, and sign back in with the same account to restore your data.
• You can delete your account by contacting us. Deleting your account removes your profile and your personal content.

Children

Giftogether is not directed at children under 13. Accounts are for adults, and parents may add family members to shared lists on their behalf.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
